The Depiction of Queen Elizabeth II - 1947 Princess Elizabeth Wedding – Definitive Issue

Following her engagement to Lieutenant Philip Mountbatten, Princess Elizabeth was photographed by Dorothy Wilding. The portraits served as the basis for a one penny (1d) stamp issued by Australia to coincide with the royal wedding in November 1947.

Letter and die proof

‘Thank You' letter from Princess Elizabeth to the Australian Post Master General.
A die proof of the one penny (1d) stamp issued to coincide with Princess Elizabeth's wedding was forwarded to the Princess. A letter of thanks was sent to the Governor-General of Australia, Sir William McKell.
